I have started testing Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoho Cliq, Skype (owned by MSFT) and others. I will say, though, that there are very few video platforms as easy to use as Zoom. If you still feel that Zoom is not for you and have already installed the Zoom video calling platform, and want to uninstall it, the steps are below. Zoom collects only the data from individuals using the Zoom platform required to provide the service and ensure it is delivered effectively under a wide variety of settings in which our users may be operating. Zoom takes its users’ privacy extremely seriously.Zoom complies with all applicable privacy laws, rules, and regulations in the jurisdictions within which it operates, including the GDPR and the CCPA.Zoom does not monitor users' meetings or its contents.Zoom has never sold user data in the past and has no intention of selling users’ data going forward.Consumer Reports even issued its own warnings. So Why Is Everyone Still Using It? lays out enormous evidence of a platform run amok. Various FBI warnings, security analysts, and a recent long and scathing blog post from OneZero, a Medium publication about tech and science,: Zoom Is a Nightmare. I am still a fan of the Zoom platform, but increasingly hear that these reports have frightened even the most relaxed and satisfied users. However, as Zoom makes clear below, they are not selling user data.
Many if not all of the cloud-based, social, free platforms are using the information you provide to sell to third parties. That usually means that companies are selling your data. If a product is free, then you are the product. We assume that companies have our best interest at heart, but we also know that has proven to be untrue. After all, we signed the terms of service (often without even reading them). For some of us, these things are tolerable. If you follow technology and business news, you likely have heard about Zoom’s challenges with security.
